Description
Like a lot of people I tried my first few runs on Nightmare with Vesper, swinging a gigantic hammer and keep healing infinitely. What makes Vesper really strong is his first passive Resolve which heals HP% every 4 attacks.
==== # Build explanation # ====
We are running Arrow Storm in Déjà Vu slot, this will help us have more attack speed to help triggering the passive faster and create projectiles to deal more damage. For essences we are using Essence of Sulfur since Vesper deal abysmally low damage, Essence of Momentum to reduce the cooldown of the memory (not that useful but nice to have since we have to wait 6s until the cooldown starts). Essence of Crimson is used to deal more damage and help restoring health but can be replace by Essence of the Giant for a tankier option.
Cruel Sun or Discipline are dismantled early on to level up Arrow Storm or Resolve, since we rely mostly on basic attacks to keep our health high the other memories are either here to boost our attack speed using Battle Cry or Shadow Overdrive which grant 20% attack speed.
The second loadout option will be El's Sanctuary which is Vesper's ultimate. We are using Essence of Love to provide more movement speed and attack speed, Essence of Shatter synergize pretty well with this memory increasing light damage by 72% and Essence of Talc will also empower it by 400% making it a nuke on cast.
We can use offensive memory like Blade Storm, Chomp or Corrosive Trails paired with Essence of Clemency to deal damage and healing at the same time.

We are running full attack speed here: Pulverizer, Gathering Storm, Hurricane, Reckless Fury.
Crimson Flame synergize with Essence of Sulfur or Cruel Sun.
Life
Stone Skin, Trial Survivor, I Shall Not Waver! to stack armor.
Steel Refinement, Marvelous Muscles for more HP.
Regenerative Skin which will stack with Resolve and any other source of healing.
Heavy Armor Mastery for more shields while dashing.
Imagination
Primordial Chaos for more stats after defeating bosses.
Overwhelming Presence useful to find better essences or memories.
Intersecting Memories for early memory or dream dust.
Flexible
Total Offensive and A Touch of Altruism are great on occasional ultimate cast to have an attack speed boost.
Sharp Negotiator coupled with Overwhelming Presence to buy things from merchants
